Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — $180 covers a full A440 tuning plus any minor repairs or adjustments I can make during the visit, including sticky keys, squeaky pedals, and similar small issues. The only add-ons are a pitch raise (+$60) if the piano has dropped significantly below pitch, or significant additional repairs (+$60). I'll always let you know before I do anything that would add to the base rate.
I'll assess this when I arrive and let you know before I begin. A pitch raise is typically needed when a piano hasn't been tuned in three or more years and has dropped more than a quarter-tone below A440. You can also read more on my Do I Need a Tuning? page.
A standard tuning typically takes about 90 minutes to two hours. If a pitch raise is needed, or if there are additional repairs, plan for closer to two and a half hours. I'll give you an honest time estimate when I arrive.
I'm based near the Mueller area and travel to homes, schools, churches, and studios across greater Austin — South Austin, Tarrytown, Westlake, downtown, East Austin, the Arboretum, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, and beyond. If you're not sure whether I cover your area, just send me a message or call.
Absolutely. My $150 non-tuning assessment covers a full inspection of the piano's vital components. It's the smartest $150 you can spend before buying a used piano. Email me at kevin@atxpianotuner.com to arrange. You can also read my Finding the Right Piano guide.
In many cases I can schedule a visit within a day or two. Most clients are accommodated within a week. I'm available Monday through Friday. Fill out the form below or call or text me at 512-587-4621 to get on my schedule.
